Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large overripe bananas, mashed (about 1½ cups)

  • ½ cup melted butter (or neutral oil)

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • (Optional): ½ cup chopped walnuts, ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, mash bananas until smooth. Stir in melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

  4. Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. Gently fold in nuts, chocolate chips, or other mix-ins if using.

  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

  7. Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  9. Slice and serve!

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and texture. This banana bread freezes well and can be customized with nuts, spices, or chocolate chips.
