Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni

  • 1½ cups full-fat mayonnaise (Best Foods or Hellmann’s)

  • ¼ cup whole milk

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • Optional: ¼ cup shredded carrot

  • Optional: 2 tablespoons finely grated onion

  • Optional: 1 teaspoon sugar (for subtle sweetness)

  • Black pepper to taste


Instructions

  • Cook the macaroni 2–3 minutes longer than package instructions, until very soft.

  • Drain and rinse with cold water. Let sit 5 minutes to dry slightly.

  • In a large bowl, mix mayo, milk, vinegar, salt, and optional sugar until smooth.

  • Add the cooled pasta and gently fold in until well coated.

  • Mix in carrot or onion if using.

 

  • Cover and chill for at least 2 hours. Stir before serving and adjust seasoning as needed.

Notes

For best texture, chill at least 2 hours. Add milk if it thickens after refrigeration.
